Warriors Advanced Stats
The Warriors have the widest spread of player's efficiency rating of any team in the NBA. There are 184 NBA players that qualify for PER as of today. Steph Curry is 3rd in PER and Kelly Oubre is 3rd worst (182nd) in the league. The most encouraging thing I see is 2, 3 and 4 on the Warriors with 2 bench players and Wiseman being leaders. The Warriors are on their way to having a top 3 bench in the league and a future SUPERSTAR in Wiseman. Steph has the 4th highest usage rate in the NBA and the Warriors are 5-0 when he scores at least 30 points, when Steph is elite they can beat anyone.
The talk of moving Oubre to the 2nd unit is ridiculous. The bench is rolling right now and there is no reason to change their spacing with Oubre who appears to be applying as a brick layer every time he's on the court. But he is a valuable contributor to the starters despite his current shooting problems. He leads the team in defensive win shares (an estimate of the number of wins contributed by a player due to his defense) and gives them good energy. His shooting has to start to work back towards the mean at some point and then this team can give everyone problems. Another good sign, who is 2nd on the team in defensive win shares? James Wiseman is 2nd on the Warriors in DWS. He still has much to learn but ALL signs are pointing to a max contract perennial All NBA player.
The Wariors play 4 games this week against the Raptors, Pacers, Nuggets and Suns. All winnable games and I hope to wee them go 3-1 this week and continue to increase their margin above .500 .
